La Netrebko shine as Manon in London

From Royal Opera Covent Garden in London Classicalify get these reviews about La Netrebko and coming star tenor Vittorio Grigolo in Massenet's "Manon"
(A performance Calssicalify will se later this summer):

Laurent Pelly's new production starring Anna Netrebko and Vittorio Grigolo opened to a series of four and five star reviews this week:
'It is without doubt the night of nights for the leads, Anna Netrebko and Vittorio Grigolo.' Daily Telegraph *****
'[Netrebko] was in magnificent voice (her top register spot-on in the Cours-la-Reine frolic) and her sheer joy in performing was contagious.' Daily Telegraph *****'
Grigolo made a triumphant Covent Garden debut as Des Grieux... He balances his Italianate ardour with style and intelligence... and his good looks and energetic acting make him an appealing stage figure. A great operatic career lies in his sights, if he keeps his wits about him.' Daily Telegraph *****'
Vittorio Grigolo's dashing and thrillingly sung Chevalier des Grieux... I was put in mind of the young Roberto Alagna as Gounod's Roméo. Yes, Grigolo was that good. As house debuts go it was little short of sensational.' The Independent *****'
Antonio Pappano, too, such a master stylist, made deliciously light of the score's many divertissements' The Independent *****
'The power and clarity with which [Netrebko] consistently sang the high notes was quite awesome, confirming her reputation as one of the great sopranos of our time.' Express 'Vittorio Grigolo displays a perfect tenor voice' Express'Netrebko's Manon has them in the palm of her hand, her control underlined by her formidable vocal delivery, complete with stratospheric E flat.' Evening Standard ****'
The thunderous ovation [Grigolo] received at the curtain call suggested that the audience sensed the birth of a star.' Evening Standard ****'
With a top supporting cast, and an unmissable star at the height of her powers in the title role, it adds up to a great post-Budget treat.' Metro ****'
The most sensational debut to be heard at Covent Garden for some time. He's [Grigolo] got everything the role demands - a voice that flows, terrific looks, an instinctive sense of theatre.' The Guardian ****
This is a wonderful chance to see a real rising star and one of the greatest sopranos of our time. There are some tickets remaining for two of the performances in July.
