OHP named Best Opera Company 2010

One of Classicalify's favourite summer hot spots is Opera Holland Park in London. Summer 2010 Classicalify attended two performances, Verdi's "La Forza del destino" and Zandonai's rarely played "Francesca da Rimini". Classicalify was more than satisfied, as always in Holland Park. To see good opera productions in a wonderful park in London and to sip a glass of Pimm's during the intervals on a nice summer eavning is very much Classicalify! We therefore congratulate OHP being named Best Opera Company 2010 by The Sunday Times.
Here is the statement sent to Classicalify from OHP:
Opera Holland Park has been named Best Opera Company 2010 in the Sunday Times Review of the Year:
"Five hits out of six, with excellent stagings of Carmen and Don Giovanni, the most convincing La forza del destino here in decades, and a rare outing for Zandonai's potboiler Francesca da Rimini."
In the best opera productions of 2010, the Independent on Sunday said,
"Conductors Stuart Stratford and Brad Cohen conjured the thrill of La forza del destino and the sorrow of Pelléas et Mélisande in Holland Park."
If you are not yet a OHP fan, check out the productions for summer 2011, starting with Donizettis "Don Pasquale" conducted by Maestro Richard Bonynge. Summer 2011 OHP also give us: "L'amico Fritz" by Mascagni, Mozart's "Figaro", Puccini's "La Rondine", Verdi's "Rigoletto" and Catalani's "La Wally".
Of course Classicalify is more than thrilled to see the avalanche in "La Wally" !
