Almost all opera houses have released their coming seasons and here is den norske operan or the Norwegian Opera's offering. Unfortunately it's almost completely uninteresting. The big plans launched with a fantastic new Don Carlos at the opening of the house today seem shelved. The one shining light is a new La Boheme directed by the always interesting Stefan Herheim. What the Boheme shares with all other productions is an utterly boring casting with a complete lack of star power. Norway, one of the richest countries in the world, seems uninterested in investing in culture. Shame. Still the house itself, is as beautiful as ever. Shame that what's going in inside is so lacklustre.
