Valery Gergiev to Munich in 2015.



 Russian conductor Valery Gergiev will be the new music director in Munich according to german press.
He will replace the current Lorin Maazel in 2015. Gergiev is one of the most sought after conductors today and known as a workaholic. He is not only artistic director of the Marinsky theater and orchestra but also music director of the LSO and honorary conductor of the Swedish Radio symphony orchestra and one of the founders of the baltic sea festival. The cultural officer Hans-Georg Küppers has stated that he would prefer a younger music director to grow with the orchestra and other names were suggested.

Simon Rattle to leave Berlin in 2018

Sir Simon Rattle has announced he is to leave the Berlin philharmonic when his contract as chief conductor expires in five years' time. Rattle started in Berlin back in 2002 and has since then reached pop status in Berlin. Classicalify has been to many of Rattles concerts in Berlin and enjoyed all of them very much. Rattle has said it wasn't an easy decision for him but he wan'ts to give the orchestra plenty of time to find a new music director. Who will it be?.
